Our Manufacturing Operations teams are the people that make our products. We work in the manufacturing plants with a "Safety First, Quality Always" mindset striving for continuous improvement. We work in the local plant connected to our global manufacturing network to ensure the highest quality of raw materials, intermediates and finished products.

As part of our Company's Vaccine Manufacturing Organization, the Durham team is seeking a Manager, Operations to serve as the lead for People Development/Training Deployment Strategy. The Manager, Operations is accountable for the process specific training strategy and execution of the Vaccine Manufacturing Facility (VMF) Operations teams, including all hiring both full-time employees and contractors.

The Manager, Operations will provide leadership, cross-functional development and technical expertise to operations and administrative support personnel in various stages of high performing team development in manufacturing. The Manager, Operations is a critical member of the VMF Management team and will assist other areas in the Vaccine Manufacturing Facility.  

Responsibilities

  • Accountable for training and onboarding for VMF Operations

  • Develops and executes training strategy for operations that is aligned with current production needs 

  • Leads training activities for process specific training 

  • Accountable for training qualification documents for process specific training 

  • Collaborates with production Associate Director and Managers/Coaches in each area and provides support for hiring/training needs as well as alignment on learning plans

  • Partnering with Learning & Development on training qualification document, learning plans and NEO (New Employee Orientation) 

  • Manages all contractor hiring and works closely with contract agencies 

  • Ensures compliance of training systems / documentation across production 

  • Supports interviewing and hiring activities across the Durham site for assigned roles

Education Requirement

  • High School Diploma AND at least Six (6) years in a manufacturing, technical, support, or Military role OR

  • Bachelor's degree in a technical field AND at least Four (4) years in a manufacturing, technical, support, or Military role 

Experience and Skills

Required

  • Demonstrated leadership, interpersonal, technical aptitude, and problem-solving skills | Work both independently and within multi-functional teams in a fast-paced environment

  • Strong team skills, including ability to coach/develop work teams, provide training, motivate/empower others, and resolve conflict

  • Interviewing and on-boarding new employees

  • Flexibility and the ability to manage multiple priorities

  • Principled and strong presentation, verbal, and written communications

  • Schedule: Monday - Friday with some weekends, holidays and evenings.
