Job Description


SCOPE:

CoImmune is seeking a highly motivated individual with a strong scientific and technical knowledge in immunology particularly focused on the Immuno-oncology and cell therapy space. This individual will report directly to the VP of Research and Development and will be working within the Immunology/Process Development Group. This individual will be expected to independently design, execute and analyze diverse studies and provide leadership within the program. In addition to technical expertise, the ideal candidate should be capable of successfully working across groups including molecular biology, QC and manufacturing teams to design, test, and implement all processes and technologies related to Immuno-Oncology therapies with a focus on Chimeric Antigen Receptor (CAR) T cells therapies. This individual must have a broad background in current state of the art of immunological assays and cell culture.


RESPONSIBILITIES:

-Independently plan, design, and execute experiments to assess the in-vitro functions of CAR-T cells
-Perform scale-up and close-system processes to ensure reproducibility of drug product.
-Develop CAR T cell therapy platforms and optimize cell-based immunoassays, including ex-vivo antigen-specific T cell isolation and expansion, multicolor flow cytometry, ELISA, and cytotoxic assays.
-Work within R&D and process development to coordinate activities in other company-wide areas such as Manufacturing and QC -Investigate and develop new methods and technologies to support project advancement.
-Perform studies to improve the identity, purity, and potency of cell product.
-Lead and participate in technical transfer activities within the company and outside partners.
-Assist project management to determine development activities, technology transfer activities, timelines, and resource needs to meet corporate goals.
-Upon request of supervisor, direct activities of personnel at research associate, research assistant/lab tech levels.
-Interpret experiments in written and oral manner and report results to management.
-Prepare protocols, data summaries, technical reports and publications or patent applications.
-Maintain Scientific knowledge in state-of-the art principles and theories.

Job Requirements


-For level II, Ph.D., in immunology/Cell biology or equivalent in cellular process development and 2-5 years related experience. -For level III, 5-8 years of related experience; may include post-doctoral experience.
-Post-doctoral or related industry experience in human T-cell biology and immunology.
-Extensive hands-on experience in cellular immunology and CAR-T cell process development for Immuno-oncology and or cell therapy
-Well-developed understanding of molecular and cellular biology, immunological assays, and cell transfection/transduction processes
-Basic experience developing process development activities for cellular therapies
-Advanced cell culture techniques
-Supervisory experience preferred

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

Majority of work is sedentary with sitting, standing, and bending. Some occasional physical demands such as: pushing, pulling, and lifting up to 30 lbs. Good dexterity and balance required. Work will require working with Biohazardous, small quantities of chemical materials, as well as ultra-cold temperatures while wearing personal protective equipment.
