Job Description


Overview:
Work as part of a multi-disciplinary research team at Duke including research scientists, Pathologists, Radiologists and Surgeons to understand Breast Cancer biomarkers. Characterizing human Breast Cancer samples for risk using biomarkers. Collaborate with scientific groups in Europe. Review laboratory methods, scientific journals, abstracts, and other literature for information applicable to research experiments. This work results in inclusion on scientific abstracts and conferences.
Responsibilities:
o Data generation from DNA, RNA and immunohistochemistry
o Human tissue analysis, including single cells isolation from fresh samples
o Patient records review
o Maintain laboratory notebook and other documentation in an orderly and accurate fashion for tracking work progress, experiments, and results
o Molecular biology studies including tissue isolation of DNA/RNA. Macro-dissection experience is a plus
o Regulatory compliance of IRB studies (protocols, renewals)
o Perform laboratory duties and maintain documentation for general lab operations
o Perform other related duties as necessary and requested
o Comply with vaccination requirements when necessary

Job Requirements


Education/Training:
Work generally requires skills acquired through the completion of a bachelor's degree in Botany, Biology, Zoology, Biochemistry, Molecular Biology, Immunology or Chemistry or other science related scientific field program.

Experience: Work requires one to two years of research experience.

Preferred Qualifications
o Demonstrated ability to work within a team, and to troubleshoot and resolve problems, is required
o Proficient in all Microsoft Applications: Excel, Word, PowerPoint
o Excellent oral and written communication skills with strong technical writing experience required
o Effective time and workload management and strong organizational skills
o Experience with human tissues, molecular skills, RedCap database and patient record review a plus
