Summary/Objective
The Toxicologist, Food Contact Materials is responsible for providing toxciology know-how / expertise to regulatory and technical staff on client projects. The Toxicologist will work as part of the global centralized toxicology team with a primary focus on food contact materials projects.

Essential Functions
• Provide toxicology support to client projects
• Complete safety assessments primarily in the food contact materials industry, but also to support other groups, such as agriculture, industrial, or medical devices
• Ability to conduct toxicological literature searches and literature reviews, summarizing scientific literature and study reports
• Experience with use of SAR Modeling (Structure Activity Relation) and read-across techniques
• Experience with use of databases such as ToxTree, LeadScope, ToxPlanet, etc.
• Participate in drafting regulatory reports, contributing to the safety assessment portion of these reports
• Preparation of the toxicology portion of global regulatory submissions
• Ability to author the Comprehensive Toxicology Profile and Safety Narrative for Food Contact Notifications
• Author waiver submissions
• Develop technical reports and work closely with team members to produce final reports to Clients
• Interact with clients in-person, via email or phone
• Support project management, including status reports for project team
• Assist in managing lab testing
• Placement and Monitoring of Toxicology Studies
• Participate in conferences and other activities to promote the business if interested

Job Requirements


Qualifications
• Expertise in Regulatory Compliance (FDA food contact compliance, EU food contact compliance)
• MS or Ph.D. degree in toxicology, forensic science, chemistry, or a related discipline
• Post-doc or professional experience (3-5 years) in toxicology.
• Experience in the following industries: food contact, chemical, agribusiness, consumer products, medical devices or pharmaceutical. Food contact preferred.
• Diplomat of the American Board of Toxicology (DABT) or related certification is preferred or willingness to become board certified.
• Sound scientific principles, flexibility, and willingness to learn.
• Strong verbal and written communications with ability to effectively communicate within global organization.
• Strong organizational and follow-up skills, as well as attention to detail.
• Excellent written and verbal skills, assisting in drafting regulatory reports, and preparation of FDA submissions for no-objection letters.
• Must be self-motivated and effective with time management.
• Ability to work within a matrixed team and as an individual contributor in a fast-paced, changing environment.
• Strong ability to execute against multiple projects with competing deadlines.
