We are seeking a highly motivated scientist to join our RNA Biology group. This person will be part of an integrated bioinformatics and computational biology team that is responsible for addressing key questions about RNA biology and structure. Their work plays a key role in identifying and characterizing RNA targets for the Ribometrix platform. The position provides opportunities to contribute to both the science and strategy of treating disease by targeting RNA. An ideal candidate will have experience with interrogating biological hypotheses using data from NGS methods and other technologies, have facility for integrating multiple data types in novel analyses, and understand the application of computational methods to inform business-level decisions.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
Design computational experiments and implement robust statistics to answer biological questions and drive hypothesis-driven research
Identify biologically relevant transcript models and annotate regions with potentially functional RNA structure
Interrogate NGS data and integrate with diverse data types, including secondary structure models and evolutionary conservation
Contribute to the identification of RNA-dependent biological processes relevant to drug discovery
Create unique visualization methods to communicate results to wet-lab biologists and leadership
Support multiple tasks and maintain attention to detail in a fast-paced environment

PhD in Computational Biology, Bioinformatics, or related field and 2+ years’ experience (level will be awarded commensurate with experience)
Knowledge of next-generation sequencing (NGS) and associated technologies (e.g., RNA-seq) is required.
Experience integrating diverse data types, often at genome or transcriptome scale, is required.
A track record of algorithm design is required.
Experience with RNA biology (e.g., mRNA processing or ncRNA function) is preferred.
Experience with transcriptome or mRNA annotation with relevant data types is preferred.
Experience interrogating RNA secondary and/or tertiary structure is preferred.
Experience analyzing RNA chemical modification data (e.g., SHAPE or DMS) is preferred.
Strong initiative, problem solving skills, desire to learn, attention to detail, and ability to effectively organize and prioritize are required.
Ability to work independently and as part of a diverse and dynamic team is required.
Excellent interpersonal skills, proactive communication skills, and strong written and verbal communication and presentation skills are required.
A can-do attitude complemented with a willingness to help where needed is required.
Experience working in drug discovery, especially in an industry setting, is preferred.
Previous experience in a startup/entrepreneurial environment is preferred.
