Job Description

While the pathways underlying multiple rare diseases, including hard to treat cancers, are quite diverse, a common theme is the inappropriate repression or activation of a single gene – so-called epigenetic dysfunction. Our technology provides personalized epigenome-based therapeutics that leverage site-specific Cas9 technology to treat disease at the root of gene mis-regulation.

Internship Activities*
Using cells derived frompatients affected by Friedreich's Ataxia (FA), the intern will learnnumerous techniques including human skin cell culture, transfection, protein and RNAisolation, Western blotting and quantitative PCR to assess the efficacy of ourepigenetic-based therapeutic to treat FA in our lab at UNC Chapel Hill.

This internship requires a commitment of 30 hours per week over 12 weeks, and is available starting in May,
