Job: Manager or Associate Director, Corporate Communications, Precision BioSciences, Durham, NC
Precision BioSciences is looking for a Manager or Associate Director of Corporate Communications to join our growing communications team. In this role, you will serve as a key developer and executor of communications and public relations programs. Reporting to the Senior Director of Corporate Communications, you will be primarily responsible for developing external communication programs with a key emphasis on traditional and social media initiatives and thought leadership activities that support our key areas of business focus in cancer and genetic disease. The ideal candidate will be comfortable working cross-functionally with several key function leads within our clinical, research, manufacturing, business development/alliance management, human resources, and regulatory teams.
Our group is a super collaborative and creative team. A key goal for us is to connect with our stakeholders, whether that be investors, shareholders, current (or potential) partners, or employees (aka Precisioneers) in an impactful way that distinguishes our company and our mission to not just treat, but cure challenging diseases. Our optimal communications program will consider if and how we use (or create new) communication channels such as social media, our web site, industry conferences, contributed/sponsored content, videos, etc. to positively engage with key stakeholders and audiences.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Support development of corporate communications program that uses new and existing communications channels that positively engages us with key stakeholders and audiences
Help develop a social media strategy that ensures this channel and its various platforms is part of our overarching communications program while being mindful of regulatory and compliance guidelines
Responsible for overseeing, creating, and updating corporate content for our web site (or other corporate communications channels as needed)
Develop editorial calendar that identifies opportunities for contributed content, speaking engagements, and sponsorships
Support press release development (and distribution via wire service) and related messaging, Q&A, and media materials (fact sheets, media lists, media backgrounders)
Identify high-impact opportunities for key industry clinical/scientific engagement; coordinate with functional teams regarding conference/abstract submission deadlines, talk preparedness, etc.
Advise and support Corporate Communications team and external agency partner with local and trade media relations
Help support industry and patient advocacy engagement efforts
Ability to assess, measure, and report on work to show progress and opportunities for growth/change
Assist the Corporate Communications team with additional undertakings as needed
When working conditions permit, this position may require occasional travel (up to 10%)
This is a primarily office-based position associated with the main headquarters in downtown Durham, NC. For the time being, this role will be able to function remotely in accordance with company safety guidelines throughout the duration of the pandemic but is subject to change as needed.
Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Public Relations, or related field and a minimum of 5 years related experience in communications or public relations role, or equivalent combination of education and experience
Responsive and accountable; ability to calmly multi-task and balance competing priorities while managing multiple deliverables/deadlines
Strong writing, editing, and proofreading skills
Confident and comfortable with independent interactions with leadership, at times including senior leadership
Attention to detail and commitment to quality
Motivated self-starter with a proactive approach and ability to work autonomously
Previous experience with pharma/biotech and/or cell or gene therapy/editing
