The purpose of this position is to assist preclinical development activities in the application of novel recombinant adeno-associated virus (rAAV) vectors. We seek a motivated and curious individual at the Research Associate level to join the Therapeutic Discovery team, which is part of our Preclinical group. You will be expected to have strong technical and laboratory documentation skills. Experience with Neuroscience is desired.
You will execute experiments and develop assays for our Rett syndrome project. You will perform and design experiments alongside the scientific lead in order to develop, test, and validate AAV cassettes in vitro using different cell models of Rett Syndrome. This is an approximate 80% lab-based position in a BSL II material laboratory.
Maintain multiple cell types in culture for the purposes of in vitro testing including primary cells (training provided)
Perform molecular biology (DNA, RNA, protein isolation from tissues and cells), cellular biology (transductions, transfections, IHC, IF), and analytical testing (i.e. ELISA, Western blot, qPCR) for routine as required
Maintain accurate and up-to-date record of laboratory activities via electronic documentation
Assist with technical writing of procedures and protocols
Maintain and update knowledge of instrumentation and laboratory needs
Execute laboratory work plan/schedule developed with input from supervisor or senior team members
Understand and interpret experiments that contribute to project goals
Conduct troubleshooting analysis
Perform other essential tasks/responsibilities as assigned
BS with a minimum of 2 years/ MS with 0 years of experience in virology, immunology, molecular biology, cell biology or other relevant scientific area. Level is commensurate with experience
Experience with molecular biology is required.
Exemplary organizational skills, along with notebook maintenance and writing skills
Must be a self-motivated, flexible, and driven professional who can effectively perform in a rapidly changing, small company environment
Must be able to work independently, but is also a team player with strong collaborative skills
