Job Description


Position Summary



The position is responsible for providing technical and scientific support in developing, validating, and executing analytical testing.  This position will collaborate with cross-functional teams and will work side-by-side with other scientists and professionals to drive the scientific agenda. 



 



Essential Functions




  • Takes a central role in performing protocol driven work in the testing of small molecules in pharmaceutical products.

  • Performs analytical method development utilizing a variety of instrumentation.

  • Leads effectively other chemists to perform large tasks.

  • Writes and reviews method validation protocols, reports, SOPs, investigations, test methods and specifications.

  • Assists with root cause identification, deviations, change controls, corrective and preventive actions (CAPA).

  • Effectively uses various laboratory software packages (Empower3, ProCal, Master Control, ELN, etc.)

  • Identifies and leads improvement opportunities to enhance LEAN culture and infrastructure.

  • Acts as a Subject Matter Expert in support of management interaction with clients.

  • Performs peer review and verification of raw data. 

  • Mentors junior chemists.

  • Supports development of LIMS templates. 

  • Performs additional duties as required and assigned by management.



 



Education and Experience




  • Bachelor's degree in Pharmaceutical Sciences or Chemistry with 6 years related experience, or equivalent education, experience and training; Master's degree with 4 years related experience; Doctorate Degree with 2 years related experience knowledge.

  • Proficiency in small molecule testing using HPLC/UPLC, GC, dissolution, wet chemistry and other testing methods.

  • Experience in a cGMP environment is required. Knowledge of USP, Ph.Eur., FDA, and ICH requirements as they apply to production and testing of drug substances and drug products is preferred.

  • Candidate must possess the ability to develop and optimize methods on the fly and have the ability to change directions quickly.

  • Ability to find a solution for or to deal proactively with work-related problems; ability to look beyond the standard solutions.
