Job Description


Locus Biosciences is seeking highly motivated applicants to join our research and development team as a full-time Research Technician within the Translational Medicine group. This position is well-suited for highly motivated technicians that have a desire to push product development forward into critical preclinical in vitro and in vivo testing across a variety of therapeutic indications. This individual will work directly with scientists in both Development Translational Medicine as well as the Discovery group to develop and execute in vivo animal models and analyze tissue samples using various molecular and biochemical assays. The ideal candidate will be well organized and have a scientific background as well as experience with microbiology techniques and in running animal models. Candidates must have the ability to manage multiple concurrent projects, but be flexible, adjusting plans as the data dictate. The individual must be able to communicate effectively and be able to work across interdisciplinary teams.

Responsibilities will include:

Participation in overall experimental strategy and direction discussions
Running assays involving in vitro samples and in vivo animal testing specimens
Support the execution of a variety of mouse models (especially in infectious disease, inflammatory bowel disease, and microbiome models) and helping to collect a variety of tissue samples
Daily monitoring of ongoing animal studies
Documentation of experimental protocols and the resulting data analysis
Presentation of results to internal and potentially external scientists and stakeholders
Maintain sufficient inventory of materials, supplies, and equipment for performance of responsibilities
Cross-training and assistance with on-going discovery efforts across Locus Biosciences
Candidate must possess:

A B.S./B.A. degree
1-5 years of experience in laboratory/scientific setting
Basic laboratory bench skills
Ability to structure, implement, and maintain study plans in the face of changing priorities and data-driven necessities
Ability to communicate effectively
Willingness to develop solutions to difficult objectives independently and consistently
Preferred Qualifications:

Sterile technique
Plating and analyzing bacteria
Familiarity with molecular techniques like qPCR analysis
Proficiency in harvest tissue from in vivo testing
Familiarity with animal handling (mouse), aseptic technique, routes of administration (intravascular, intramuscular, intraperitoneal, oral gavage, subcutaneous, etc.), and animal anesthesia
General understanding of the overall drug development lifecycle, especially preclinical phases
