As the Facilities Leader for the Durham site, you will have responsibilities for ensuring all bRT facilities and equipment are maintained to the highest standards. You will lead a team of professional managers and dedicated individual contributors to accomplish this goal. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience with all of the following facilities management areas: Laboratory Management, Office Services Management, Building Management System (BMS) building MEP, HVAC design, security management and operations, electrical distribution, security alarm system, control system, compressed gases, WFI systems, clean steam, BSCs, fume hoods, boilers and chillers, all in a GXP manufacturing environment.
Daily management of the Facilities services teams. Ensures a high levels of customer service for our customer base.
In close partnership with the Site Engineering team, make the process equipment work for our unique gene therapy processes
Support the overall design, construction, startup and operation of the company’s expanding Durham facilities
Collaboration with external engineering firms and the cross-functional bluebird team, including Environment, Health & Safety, Manufacturing, Manufacturing Sciences & Technology, Site Engineering, OE/Project Management, Quality Assurance, Quality Control, IT, People Partners, Finance, Site Leadership and Global Facilities to deliver results
Development and approval of documents related to site management; SOP’s, Work Plans, Job Aides, Various Policies and Procedures, etc.
Directs the design, planning, construction and daily maintenance of bluebird’s expanding Durham Facilities
Partner with Site Engineering and own the development of a spare parts, calibration and preventive maintenance program.
Responsible for developing budgets and long-range facilities plans based on company growth and future needs
Oversees the functioning of all building systems including mechanical, electrical, fire/life safety, plumbing, and waste management
Monitors budgets and approves contracts
Oversees various contractors involved in a variety of facilities related projects
Ensures building operations comply with all local building codes, zoning laws and regulations
Creates functional strategies and specific objectives for bRT Facilities and develops budgets/policies/procedures to support the functional infrastructure
TECHNICAL REQUIREMENTS & SKILLS:
Strong customer service orientation
Bachelor’s degree in engineering or a science related discipline preferred or equivalent combination of education and work-related experience
Minimum of 10 years of pharmaceutical industry or related experience
Minimum of 15 years of managerial experience
Strong knowledge of HVAC balancing, mechanical and electrical systems. Extensive experience in troubleshooting temperature, air flow, differential pressure and humidity and dehumidification problems related to the HVAC system
Experienced in the operations and management of facility and utility systems in a GMP and Laboratory environment
Must have experience in maintenance and construction projects and service vendor management
Significant project management skills in all areas of facilities management
Knowledge and experience with HVAC, electrical, plumbing and emergency power systems
Ability to read and interpret architectural prints, job specifications
Knowledge of OSHA guidelines, and other federal, state and local regulations
Experience with Asset, Maintenance, and Calibration Management Systems
Excellent management skills with demonstrated organizational, administrative, interpersonal, communication and supervisory skills with the demonstrated ability to work with a wide variety of people.
