Job Description


Position Overview:
Coordinate and manage work flow for laboratory operations in support of research efforts to develop tissue-based regenerative medicine products for the treatment of pulmonary hypertension and other lung diseases.

Key Accountabilities / Responsibilities:
• Perform daily laboratory parts washer runs; hand-wash dishes as needed
• Prepare surgical pans, instruments and other laboratory supplies for sterilization; perform daily laboratory autoclave runs
• Maintain laboratory log sheets for parts washer and autoclave usage
• Clean and maintain all areas of the laboratory and equipment
• Coordinate periodic lab-wide cleaning schedule for refrigerators and freezer defrosts; assist with disposal of purged materials and organization of refrigerator/freezer shelves
• Responsible for daily monitoring and restocking of laboratory supplies and chemicals; ensure proper cycling of supplies (first in first out) and monitor supply expiration dates
• Assist with laboratory equipment installations and relocations, including asset tag and alarm monitoring system placement
• Assist with maintenance of laboratory equipment list and perform periodic equipment inventory
• Assist with preparation/assembly of various team supplies (ex. solutions and tubing sets) in support of research efforts within the laboratory
• Supplement cell culture media using aseptic technique
• Prepare cleaning solutions (ex. ethanol, LpH, Vesphene) for laboratory use
• Collect, package and transport laboratory biohazardous waste to dock area for pickup by external vendor; replenish biohazardous waste supplies throughout laboratory
• Collect laboratory recycling materials and transport to dock area for pickup by housekeeping staff
• Collect chemical waste and place in secondary storage location for pickup by external vendor; replenish chemical waste containers throughout laboratory
• Collect soiled laboratory linens and transport to dock area for pickup by external vendor; deliver clean linens to laboratory gowning areas and organize as appropriate
• Perform monthly laboratory eyewash and safety shower flushes
• Maintain laboratory 5S organization
• Update and prepare laboratory signage as needed
• Additional duties as needed

Job Requirements


Minimum Requirements:
• High school diploma
• 3-5 years industry experience with HS diploma or 0-2 years of post-baccalaureate experience
• Ability to read, write and communicate in English
• Ability to utilize email, word processing and spreadsheet software

• Excellent written and oral communication skills
• Ability to initiate and manage day-to-day tasks effectively and with limited supervision
• Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
