Job Description


StrideBio, a gene therapy biotechnology company, seeks a highly qualified Scientist to join the Manufacturing Sciences team in our Durham, NC facility. The successful candidate will report to the Associate Director of Process Development to design, execute, and analyze experiments intended to improve and characterize StrideBio’s proprietary AAV vector production platform. The Scientist’s efforts will provide critical support to R&D and Manufacturing project areas. Additional responsibilities include performing molecular biology and biochemistry assays, lab support, and equipment monitoring and maintenance. Duties and Responsibilities:
• Perform cell culture operations including media and buffer preparation, maintenance of research and production cell lines, generation and testing of cell banks
• Ensure prompt availability of cell culture stocks for experiments across project areas
• Extract and characterize genomic or plasmid DNA
• Maintain lab equipment and reagent inventories
• Meticulously record data in an organized and timely manner

Job Requirements


• M.S. in Cell Biology, Molecular Biology, Biotechnology, Bioengineering, or related discipline
• B.S/B.A. in Cell Biology, Molecular Biology, Biotechnology, Bioengineering, or related discipline + 2 years industry experience
• Experience maintaining and expanding mammalian and insect cells – thawing, passaging, banking
• Ability to work productively in a team environment, and independently and efficiently perform assigned tasks
• Effective problem-solving skills
• Proficiency with MS Office, particularly Excel
• Detail-oriented with excellent organizational and communication skills
Preferred Skills:
• Experience performing transfections
• Experience producing recombinant viral vectors
• Brightfield and epifluorescence microscopy of live or fixed cells
• Prior hands-on experience with rocking or stirred-tank bioreactors
• Data entry in an electronic lab notebook
