Job Description

Shattuck Labs is developing a breakthrough platform for immunotherapy, which harnesses the human immune system to improve survival for patients battling cancer and inflammatory disease. Shattuck’s proprietary technology represents the next evolutionary step in cancer therapy by endowing one molecule with multiple functions with applicability across the entire spectrum of human disease. Specifically, Shattuck is developing novel fusion proteins for cancer immunotherapy and other disease areas. These biologic molecules are all first-in-class compounds. Shattuck Labs, based in Austin, Texas, is a privately-held biotechnology company founded in 2016. The R&D hub for Shattuck Labs is based in Research Triangle Park, NC.

Reporting to the Director of Process Development, the Technician will assist with upstream and downstream process development and product analysis/characterization to further Shattuck Labs development pipeline, with additional molecules anticipated to enter the clinic in the near future. A successful candidate will be able to multitask effectively while also contributing to the team environment which characterizes our R&D team. Job Requirements

The Technician will assist process development scientists with:
•Upstream – setup and operate bioreactors at the 1-50L scale to produce material for laboratory studies.
• Downstream – purify material using existing procedures.
• Analytics – determine product quality by standard methods (SDS-PAGE, ELISA, Octet etc.).
• Participate in product development project teams and present updates on Process Development activities.

Position may require travel and periodic evening and weekend work, as necessary to meet project deadlines and support bioreactor operations.

Qualifications and Requirements
BA/BS 0 years in a relevant discipline.
The ideal candidate will have had exposure/experience in some of the following:
o Cell culture and bioreactor systems for small-scale protein production.
o Depth filtration, TFF, precipitation.
o Chromatography methods for isolation of biologic molecules.
o Biochemical analysis (e.g. HPLC, ELISA, Octet, SEC-MALS, SDS-PAGE)
o A successful candidate must possess exceptional attention to detail, organizational, interpersonal, and communication
skills, and demonstrate critical thinking and problem-solving ability.
o Must have the ability to multi-task to meet critical deadlines and the independent initiative to solve interdisciplinary
o Candidate must be sharp, self-motivated, and able to thrive in a fast-paced dynamic biotech environment where
flexibility, tolerability to rapid change, and drive to make a significant impact is essential.
o Must enjoy working in collaboration with others and small teams to achieve goals through effective building of
relationships with co-workers.
