Transforming Life Science and North Carolina

The NCBiotech Center is currently seeking a Director, Contracts & Grants. This position is the primary point of contact with internal and external parties in relation to contract management, research administration, contract compliance and contract issues. Reviews, interprets, creates, and negotiates a wide variety of contracts or agreements to manage research and development grants, loans, and external services provided by and to the Center.

Job Overview
This position plans, coordinates, and directs all facets of the Center’s Contract and Grant Administration to include: Drafting and negotiating grant agreements; oversight of award documentation; enforcement of contingency notifications; approval of change requests in collaboration with program staff; oversight and management of all compliance.

Monitors post-award grant activities including oversight and approval of invoices, change requests, close outs, compliance; conducts site visits; serves as single Point of Contact for all post-award questions and issues with grantees. Conducts on-site monitoring to comply with Center’s Monitoring Policy.

Plans, coordinates, and directs all facets of the Center’s Loan post award document administration to include: drafting and finalization of loan agreements and amendments including reconciling contract language with previous agreements and amendments (if necessary) and oversight for compliance with state code.

Manages the contract accounting specialist. Activities include oversight and review of work performed, mentoring for professional growth and development; balance of work-load; promotion of constant communication with program departments to ensure all employees have the information needed for program management

Work is performed under the direction of the Vice President, Finance & Accounting as well as the SVP, Science & Business Development

Job Requirements

Minimum Education and Experience Required

A bachelor degree in business or related field is required. We will also consider candidates with a paralegal certificate as long as a four year degree requirement is also met.
Preference will be given to candidates with four or more years of progressively responsible experience in contract review, contract administration, and administering state or federal grants. Candidates must have considerable knowledge of compliance requirements for research contracts, specifically for administering state and federal grant and contract awards.
