Job Description


Arbiom is pioneering the development and commercialization of new technologies for the transformation of renewable lignocellulosic biomass feedstock to biocompatible sugars, high-grade lignin, and animal feed ingredients. Therefore, Arbiom is becoming an enabler of the sustainable bioeconomy.

We are currently seeking a full-time Research Associate to join our Fermentation Team.

The Research Associate will assist with a variety of experiments and tests under the supervision of a project leader. Specific areas of work will include enzymatic hydrolysis, media preparation, microorganisms’ propagation, fermentation, and downstream processing. R&D work will be focused on carrying out experimental designs and assisting in data collection and analysis.

Key Responsibilities Will Include

o Microbiology R&D procedures.
o Operating bioreactors.
o Operating and maintaining lab equipment (e.g. balances, centrifuges, pH meters) as well as analytical instruments (e.g. HPLCs, ICP, GC-MS).
o Setting-up and performing experiments.
o Preparing samples, assembling data, and assisting to analyze the data.
o Producing reliable and precise data to support R&D.

Job Requirements


Requirements

o B.S. in Microbiology, Biology, Biotechnology or equivalent.
o Familiarity with aseptic microbiological laboratory procedures is a must.
o Laboratory research experience collecting and analyzing samples
o Demonstrated capability with lab equipment and analytical instruments
o Familiarity with Good Laboratory Practices (GLP)
o Strong understanding of the scientific method
o Experience collecting and analyzing samples
o Interest in biotechnology, renewable energy, and/or biochemicals
o Demonstrated ability to work both independently and within team environments
o Team player that thrives in a cutting edge, fast paced, entrepreneurial environment
o Ability to multi-task and be flexible as project priorities change
o Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both verbal and written
o Knowledge of standard business software
