Job Description


Associate in Research position is immediately available in the laboratory of Dr. Nenad Bursac in Biomedical Engineering Department at Duke University (http://bursaclab.pratt.duke.edu/). Responsibilities include maintenance and differentiation of human induced pluripotent stem cells (hiPSCs) into cardiovascular and skeletal muscle lineages, tissue engineering of miniature cardiac and skeletal muscle tissues ("cardiobundles and myobundles"), production of adeno-associated viruses and lentiviruses, cell transfections and transductions, qRT-PCR, immunofluorescence staining and imaging, and immunoblotting. The candidates should be able to work alone and in team, independently review related scientific literature to troubleshoot encountered problems, and to improve on used methodologies. Will also occasionally train and supervise undergraduate and graduate students in molecular biology techniques.

Job Requirements


Required qualifications: B.S. degree in biology or related field with significant experience in cell culture, molecular biology, and biochemical techniques. Previous experience with pluripotent stem cells and tissue engineering techniques is a plus. Applications will be reviewed as they are received until candidate is selected.
