Molecular Biology/Biochemistry internships for immediate hire at our Durham, NC site

About Pleno Inc.
Pleno Inc. is an early-stage company developing a liquid biopsy microfluidic platform for monitoring minimal residual disease and early multi-cancer screening. The platform will detect a diverse collection of analytical targets that includes DNA single nucleotide variants, copy number variants, indels, miRNA, methylation patterns and protein biomarkers from a blood draw.

Position Summary
We are looking for highly motivated and talented interns with experience in molecular biology or biochemistry to join our biochemistry development group. Successful candidates will be key contributors within a multidisciplinary team developing and optimizing assays in a digital droplet format. The environment will be fast paced and technically challenging requiring new solutions for complex biochemical applications deployed on a new platform format.

Job Requirements

• Translate and optimize chemistry and molecular biology protocols to a digital fluidic format
• Plan and execute experiments
• Ability to prioritize and manage a wide variety of tasks and shift direction rapidly when required
• Work in a highly interdisciplinary environment alongside engineers and biochemists
• Maintain a detailed laboratory notebook documenting experimental methods and results, assist with developing and filing intellectual property, write reports describing assay protocols and SOPs

• Bachelor or Master degree candidate in biochemistry, molecular biology or related area of study with emphasis in nucleic acid research
• Interest in acquiring assay development skills at the interface of applied molecular biology and chemistry
• High integrity, insightful, industrious team player who is passionate about their work
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills, strong analytical skills for experimental design and data analysis
