Job Description


Symberix is a microbiome-focused drug discovery/preclinical-stage company located in RTP/Durham. We are seeking candidates to apply for an open Project Manager/Scientific Writer position with knowledge and experience in drug discovery and preclinical drug development.

Education:
• Ph.D., M.D., and/or Pharm.D. in relevant areas of research with two or more years of post-doctoral training or industry experience preferred
• M.S. - Six or more years of industry experience preferred
• B.S. / B.A. - Ten or more years of industry experience preferred
• Specialized expertise in two or more of the following research areas: gastroenterology, oncology, pharmacology, toxicology, bioanalytical chemistry, xenobiotic metabolism and microbiome or microbiology.
• First-author and/or corresponding author in two or more peer-reviewed scientific publications on relevant topics preferred

Responsibilities:
• Organize, analyze, and interpret scientific data
• Communicate scientific information to external parties, including NIH, FDA, investors, key opinion leaders, scientific reviewers (publications and grant applications), patent examiners, IRB’s, and IACUC’s
• Manage research collaborations with external vendors, NIH scientists, academic institutions, and clinical sites
• Contribute to the experimental designs
• Coordinating key components of a project (determining and delegating resources, communication goals, motivating participants, prioritizing tasks, analyzing outcomes).

• Proficiency in the following:
o Microsoft 365 Applications: Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Teams, OneNote, SharePoint
o Microplate assays: Fluorescence, Absorbance
o Microplate assay study design
o Familiarity with microbial enzymes
o Hands-on benchtop experience
o Data management and data presentation
o Personnel management
