The Research Scientist, Chemistry is accountable for driving results in a fast-paced environment by setting up and carrying through experiments for the optimization of process chemistry within bioMASON. This role will generate new hypotheses and technology initiatives and develop these into research programs to develop new and improved products. As a Research Scientist, Chemistry you assist in the transition of a development technology to commercial viability and optimization of R&D processes.
This role will be based in Research Triangle Park, NC.

Conduct research in the broad area of biomaterials
Develop experimental strategies for process chemistry optimization and water recovery
Determine research directions, come up with novel technical solutions and generally drive innovation
Lead technician(s) by developing research strategy, helping them design and execute experiments, analyze data and present conclusions to the broader group
Attracts, develops, and retains a high performing team to meet the current and evolving needs of the business through effective selection, training and development, coaching and mentoring and performance management
Qualifications and Requirements
Master’s degree in a science related field such as chemistry, analytical chemistry, materials science, biology, etc.
2 years of experience working in a chemistry focused laboratory
Experience conducting process development and optimization of ion exchange process chemistry
Prior background in developing, testing and analysis of water recovery systems
Working knowledge of the conversion of batch chemistries to closed loop systems
Proven ability to be objective, innovative, decisive and excited by new challenges in an expanding organization
Additional Preferred Attributes
Experience with biology or microbiology
Prior experience in the Design of Experiments and Statistical Analysis Planning
