Director, Projects & Prospects
North Carolina Biotechnology Center (NCBiotech)
Research Triangle Park, NC

NCBiotech Transforms Life Science and North Carolina

NCBiotech is seeking a Director, Projects & Prospects to oversee life science company retention, expansion and attraction (REAP) activities that lead to the growth of new jobs and investment in North Carolina.

About NCBiotech

NCBiotech's vision is North Carolina: a global life science leader. Our work develops the life science ecosystem in North Carolina, leading to better healthcare, faster diagnostics and more sustainable food production, all while, creating jobs right here in our state. This economic transformation is why the General Assembly has funded us for three decades, and continues its commitment today.

NCBiotech's Team

We are a team of about 70, mostly working in RTP, but across North Carolina from offices in Asheville, Charlotte, Winston-Salem, Greenville and Wilmington. We are all expert in some aspect of life science research, or financing, or economic development. We also bring our experience in supporting roles such as market research, communications, accounting, and meeting planning to contribute to the growth of this significant sector in North Carolina.

We are not a startup but we think like one. We are not a widespread multinational company, but we cast a long shadow. We are not a research lab but we know what it takes to move ideas forward.

We know our science, our data and high finance. We connect to our communities, our state and our world. We act, every day, to transform life science and North Carolina.

Job Overview

The Director, Projects & Prospects key responsibilities include managing company recruitment and expansion projects, company prospect development, and oversight of the Bioscience Industrial Development (BID) group’s Economic Development Award (EDA) program.

Works in tandem with the Director, Technology & Talent to manage life science recruitment, expansion and retention projects. This position also works closely with Corporate Communications Lead Development Manager and engages with NCBiotech’s many economic development partners and other cross-functional partners to create a pipeline of engaged company prospects with interest in bringing life science jobs and investment to North Carolina.

Position requires ability to blend technical competency with strong communication skills to drive business development.

The right candidate is well-versed in building and maintaining networks of partners in commercial real estate, site selection and economic development. S/he has excellent communications and relationship-building skills with all levels of professionals and executives, including a board of directors. In order to position North Carolina as a global life science leader, this person must also convey enthusiasm for the state and its life science community.

Candidate must be a strong project manager and customer service oriented.

We envision this position will travel up to 10-15 percent of the time.

Annual starting salary range $75,000 – $80,000.

Minimum Education and Experience Required
