bioMASON is seeking a Research Laboratory Technician This is a Full-time associate position, primarily responsible for the operation, maintenance, and configuration of research bioreactor systems and simulated environment vessels. The successful applicant will have previous experience in microbiology and demonstrate a command of basic laboratory and microbiology operating principles. This position reports to the Research Microbiologist.
Setup, configuration, operation, and maintenance of bioreactor fermentation systems and bench top assay equipment (microplate readers, spectrophotometers, etc.).
Participation in design, assembly, and maintenance of in-house prototype experimental systems.
Execute laboratory/pilot-scale experiments.
Data collection, organization, analysis, and internal dissemination.
Thorough documentation of experiments and process parameters.
Assistance in experimental design and assembly of novel systems and processes.
Performing other duties assigned by your supervisor.
Bachelor Degree or higher in Microbiology, Biotechnology, or a related field of study.
Minimum 2-years work experience in an academic or industrial biotechnology laboratory.
Technical expertise and interest in bioreactors and related laboratory simulation equipment.
Basic understanding of industrial controls and data acquisition systems.
Ability to configure and program fermentation process control systems.
Demonstrable data collection, records management, and analysis skills.
Experience in microbial fermentation
Ability to work on small team under tight deadlines.
Hands on fabrication, plumbing and wiring.
Experience/familiarity with fabrication tools.
Experience with basic PLC programming and IO configurations.
Experience with 4-20ma sensor systems.
Database setup and management.
