Under the supervision of the Senior Director Industrial Process, this position will be responsible for the internal supply plan, including materials management, inventory control, master scheduling, warehousing, MRP, MRP II and the ERP modules for these activities for the Durham, North Carolina operations.
Responsibility for the materials management process, including warehousing and inventory control.
Plan and manage master production scheduling, including maintenance, calibration and validation activities.
Supports the implementation of an ERP system for related modules, including training, testing and validation.
SME for the ERP modules involving inventory control and data integrity, warehouse management, materials requirements planning (MRP), manufacturing resource planning (MRP II).
Work with Procurement in support of supplier relations, contract development, and order management.
Perform risk assessments and develop mitigation and process improvement plans, as necessary, to ensure appropriate inventory levels of all materials for production.
Develop/calculate key performance metrics (such as turnover ratios, days of inventory on-hand, inventory valuation targets, etc.) and provide routine reporting for the materials management process.
Lead the development of operation standards and procedures for the material management process, including business process sustainability.
Contribute to long-term planning for the production process and application of the corporate ERP System/manage manufacturing alignment for Sales and Operations Planning.
Other responsibilities as assigned by the Senior Director Industrial Process.
Experience working within a cGMP manufacturing environment.
Knowledge and experience with ERP systems
Work closely with internal and external partners to ensure plans are in place and required materials are available for use to meet all production and operational needs.
Use of capacity requirements planning to ensure sufficient capacity to implement MRP.
Documentation creation and development including standard operating procedures, policy documents, risk assessments, mitigation plans, and training documents.
Knowledge of procurement, supply cold chain and just-in-time (JIT) management processes.
Understanding of inventory management principles, including classes of inventory, independent & dependent demand inventory, cycle counting, inventory valuation (FIFO, LIFO, FEFO, etc.) and inventory decision costs.
Understanding of Lean Management, Six Sigma and Total Quality Management concepts a plus.
Ability to anticipate problems/issues and create contingency plans.
Business acumen required to evaluate priorities and tasks against business and budgetary constraints.
Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
The employee is occasionally required to stand, up to 6 hours a day; walk; reach with hands/arm & stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
Requires a Master’s degree or Bachelor’s degree in Business, Logistics, Sciences, Information Systems or Engineering with a minimum of 8 years of applicable experience.
Occasional travel required in support of projects and business planning.
