The Duke Human Vaccine Institute (DHVI) and the Duke Center for HIV/AIDS Vaccine Immunology & Immunogen Discovery (CHAVI-ID), under the direction of Dr. Barton Haynes, providing national and international leadership in the fight against major infectious diseases, is currently recruiting for a highly motivated individuals to join our GMP team. The Duke Human Vaccine Institute is an interdisciplinary, interdepartmental institute dedicated to the study of basic and translational science required to understand host-pathogen interactions that can be translated to vaccines against human diseases. Our investigators are dedicated to solving major societal problems that affect millions of people globally. We are committed to performing world-class basic and translational science and also to building the next generation of scientific leaders.

The GMP Analytical Team is seeking team members who will focus on the development, qualification and execution of analytical and biophysical assays to support the characterization of vaccine products. They will provide comprehensive analytical support from the early clone stage to the final purification stage and lead/assist in the development of new methodologies in biophysical and antigenicity testing of vaccine products to advance analytical capabilities. These positions will work closely with the upstream and downstream processing teams to provide key analytical information regarding the quality of potential vaccine products.

Job Requirements

The ideal candidate will have a Bachelor’s degree in biology or other directly related scientific field plus five years of relevant experience. A Master’s or PhD is preferred and may be credited toward the experience requirement. GMP experience with a focus on assay development and various analytical platforms is required. Knowledge and hands-on experience developing UPLC methods (reverse phase, SEC, glycan analysis and peptide mapping) is strongly preferred. Knowledge and experience with CE, DSC, DLS, SDS-PAGE and ligand binding assays (ELISA, BLI and SPR) is a plus.
